  • Emeric Viani

    CO-FOUNDER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

    Emeric Viani (he/him/his) is a music educator in the greater Boston area with special interests in popular music, choral music, and Balinese gamelan. He is the Cross-Divisional Arts Department Chair and Lower School Music Teacher at the Pike School in Andover, MA where he directs the Pike Chorus (Grades 2 - 4) and Gamelan Sleeping Fox (Grades 3 - 9). Emeric was an active member of Gamelan Galak Tika from 2013-2024. He holds an M.A. in Music Education, & Ethnomusicology, B.M. in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music.

  • Mark Stewart

    CO-FOUNDER, SECRETARY

    Mark Stewart (he/him/his) has been a member of Gamelan Galak Tika for more than 15 years. He toured with the group in its 2005 trip to Bali and has performed with them at numerous venues, including Boston Symphony Hall, Lincoln Center, Zankel Hall, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

  • Chiara Evans

    DANCE/ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

    Chiara Evans (she/her/hers) is a cardiovascular technical research assistant in Boston, MA. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Bucknell University, and was a member of the Bucknell University Gamelan Ensemble for 4 years. She studied abroad in Indonesia in 2020, and traveled to Bali in 2023 for a research project with Dr. Bethany Collier and the New Atlantic Chamber Gamelan. She is also a current member of Gamelan Galak Tika at MIT.
